A poem.

Hey people, elves, demigods, wizards, witches and all! (yes finally got an intro; like it? Eh, you better.) So I’ve been in a bit of a reading slump for the past week? It’s not that I don’t want to read, no, in fact I almost finished a book in one sitting today (there were three chapters left, but I think it counts), which I haven’t actually done a while. No, it’s more that I just finished the last series in the Percy Jackson franchise and now I want more. And I’m sad because of that.
Sooo naturally, what do I do? I write a post on it! Except not exactly about what I just told you, but it’s related to Percy Jackson. What exactly am I doing? Well ya’ll probably saw this in the title (except you didn’t because I like being confusing) but *deep breath* I’m going to be sharing some PJO quotes I love! Woohoo!
Just to clear the air, when I say Percy Jackson, I mean all three series (PJO, HoO, and ToA). And these quotes are from all of them. And they aren’t in any particular order.
Now that you know all that, LET’S GOOOOOOOO 👇
(warning: spoilers for Battle of the Labyrinth, The Lost Hero, The Burning Maze, and The Tower of Nero ahead)

She walked up to Nico, who was standing to one side in the shadows, as usual. She grabbed his hand and pulled him gently into the firelight.
“We had one home,” she said. “Now we have two.”
She gave Nico a big hug, and the crowd roared with approval. For once, Nico didn’t feel like pulling away. He buried his face in Reyna’s shoulder and blinked the tears out of his eyes.

Many, many peeps weren’t very happy with the ending of The Blood of Olympus because of, um, certain things (that includes me, by the way. Well, to some extent anyway). I don’t want to give out many spoilers, so just take my word for it 😬
Anyway, one thing I LOVED in the last book, despite the flaws in the ending, was seeing two of my favorite characters, Nico and Reyna, get some spotlight. And not just that: they became really good friends too. And this shows that.
Almost at the very end of The Blood of Olympus, all of the campers (including the ones from Camp Jupiter) gather around the campfire. I love that scene. Of course, like so many scenes I love, it’s extremely short. Awesome 😩

I figure the world is basically a machine. I don’t know who made it, if it was the Fates, or the gods, or the capital-G god or whatever. But it chugs along the way it’s supposed to most of the time. Sure, little pieces break off and stuff goes haywire once in a while, but mostly… things happen for a reason.

– Leo Valdez

..just like Leo to compare the universe to a machine. But honestly, he’s right. I remember there being more to this quote, but because I’d already spent so long trying to find the first one, I got lazy and just searched up “Leo Valdez Machine Text.” Yes. That is what I wrote. Exactly. Because I forgot the word “quote” exists. I’m very smart.
(hey, hi, me from the future here: so for once I’m actually editing my post, and while doing so I decided to go look for this quote. I was 97% sure Leo said it to Piper in The House of Hades, and so I decided, “what the heck, Ima look for this.” Surprise, surprise, I didn’t find it and wasted my time. So… great. Maybe it was because I was only looking in the Leo/Piper chapters? Leo might have said it in someone else’s chapter too………………………….. Lemme know if you know which page it’s on 😑)
(I just realized how unnecessary and boring that para was. I’m sorry. Not.)

It’s my fault the monster came after us,” she said. “It’s my responsibility. Here.” She picked up the little god statue and pressed it into my hand. “If anything happens, give that to Nico. Tell him…tell him I’m sorry.”
“Bianca, no!”

-Bianca Di Angelo

I think I was debating between this, and one other quote about Bianca’s death, but in the end I chose this because of how under-used it is.
Do I even need to explain why I need to talk about that?
I think not.

No,” Leo sobbed. He ran to the dragon’s head and stroked its snout. The dragon’s eyes flickered weakly. Oil leaked out of his ear.
“You can’t go,” Leo pleaded. “You’re the best thing I ever fixed.”
The dragon’s head whirred its gears, as if it were purring. Jason and Piper stood next to him, but Leo kept his eyes fixed on the dragon.
He remembered what Hephaestus had said: That isn’t your fault, Leo. Nothing lasts forever, not even the best machines.
His dad has been trying to warn him.
“It’s not fair,” Leo said.
The dragon clicked. Long creak. Two short clicks. Creak. Creak. Almost like a pattern… trigging an old memory in Leo’s mind. Leo realized Festus was trying to say something. He was using Morse code – just like Leo’s mom had taught him years ago.

-Leo Valdez

This is there because… He once felt like his best friend was his dragon. And yeah he had Jason and Piper, but he felt kinda out of place with them too. And then his dragon dies (sort of). That’s just sad.

Go! Remember!

-Jason Grace

Yep. Those were the last words Jason uttered. Jason has always been my least favorite of the seven, but he’s not bad.
He’s a hero.

Leo – “That’s the third time I’ve had to replace that! Do you thing masts come from trees?”
Nico – “Masts come from trees.”
Leo – “That’s not the point!”

Here’s just a quick funny one, in the midst of all the sad/bittersweet quotes. Because the next one is bittersweet. Mostly bitter. Because it’s the very, very end.

Always,” I promised. “The sun always comes back.”

So, dear reader, we have come to the end of my trials. You have followed me through five volumes adventures and six months of pain and suffering. By my reckoning, you have read two thousand and ten of my haiku. Like Meg, you surely deserve a reward.

What would you accept? I am fresh out of unicorns.
However, anytime you take aim and prepare to fire your best shot, anytime you seek to put your emotions into a song or poem, know that I am smiling upon you. We are friends now.
Call on me. I will be there for you.

– Apollo/Lester

*sob sob sob*
That’s all I need to say. Apart from the fact that, hello? I write so many poems. Why hasn’t Apollo/Lester taken notice of me?????

That’s all. I wrote this post to feel better, because I need more of Camp Half-blood. Dear R.R (the author, not myself. I’ve made this joke too many times now. Oh well.), WRITE THOSE DAM STANDALONES.
(heh-heh. Dam. Heh-heh. *feeling very clever even though it’s the most basic PJO joke I could make*)
And while I’m at it, shall I just groan about how long Shannon Messenger is taking with book nine of KOTLC? 😩
AND WHERE IS THAT DISNEY+ PERCY JACKSON SERIES AND DISNEY+ KOTLC MOVIE???????? 😑😑

Hello. Err, *certain things* caused me to have a full-on rant. I’m back now.
But only for a second.

  1. I didn’t read the Apollo quote since I’m planning to read The Tower of Nero later, but the rest of the quotes made me very nostalgic. I should go reread HoO, I forget a lot about what happened. And I nearly forgot about Jason until you said that quote!
