Hey people, elves, demigods, wizards, witches, and all! Hope you’re doin’ well. 🌻
Ever since Keeper of the Lost Cities became my favourite series, I’ve been wanting to read the other series Shannon Messenger (author of KOTLC) has written: Let the Sky Fall. I finally read the first book a couple weeks ago, and I’m now halfway through the second one too!
Let’s get into the review! 🙃

Vane Weston should have died in the category-five tornado that killed his parents. Instead, he woke up in a pile of rubble with no memories of his past — except one: a beautiful, dark-haired girl standing in the winds. She swept through his dreams ever since, and he clings to the hope that she’s real.
Audra is real, but she isn’t human. She’s a sylph, an air elemental who can walk on the wind, translate its alluring songs, even twist it into a weapon. She’s also a guardian — Vane’s guardian — and has sworn an oath to protect him at all costs.
When a hasty mistake reveals their location to the enemy who murdered both their families, Audra has just days to help Vane unlock his memories.

- The style is easy to read, and fun. I was already used to Shannon Messenger’s style, and this is pretty much the same as KOTLC (style-wise, not any other way of course).
- There are sprinkles of humour throughout, which if you know me at all, you’ll know I always appreciate. C’mon, what’s a book without humour and sass, am I right? 🙄😌
- While we don’t actually even get to meet the main villain, Raiden, in this first book, I don’t think the other (main-ish) villain we do meet is half-bad! She has a purpose, which is good. There’s one more reason she makes for a good villain, but alas, spoilers. 😔

- The characters. Gosh, it hurts me to write this. Characters are like, the most important part of the story. Readers rarely care about the plot if the characters as good; at least, not all that much. But while the plot is fine; it works, the characters………. ehhhhhh. Vane is like a stupid version of Keefe, Audra is like Tam+Sophie+Biana-humour-wit=Audra.
Yes, that’s what I think of her. Is it unfair to compare the series to KOTLC? I mean… not really. They’re both series Shannon Messenger wrote. - Okay so, Vane and Audra only get to know each other for FIVE DAYS, and at the end of those five days…. they get together. Ya’ll seeing the problem here? Yeah it’s that THEY KNOW NOTHING ABOUT EACH OTHER!!!!!! NOTHING!!!!!! Audra, what’s Vane’s favourite colour? Oh that’s right, you don’t know. Vane, what’s Audra’s father’s name? Huh, looks like you don’t get to know until book two, and that’s because someone else told you! Good grief.

As you can see, it wasn’t all bad. It’s just a bit.. dragging. I haven’t finished the other two books, but I don’t think it needed to be a trilogy. I’ll be able to decide that once I’ve read the next two, but for now that’s what I think.
I did get a little bored while reading it, and I also wasn’t sure if I wanted to continue with the other books. But since it ended with a sort of cliffhanger, and it wasn’t really a bad ending, I decided to go ahead. I don’t regret that decision, but it is still boring at times.

I hope you liked my review! Lemme know if you like this, because I am trying to do book reviews more often. Maybe not of every book I read, but at least, say, four a month?
Anyway, have a great day, everyone! Tell me if you’ve read Let the Sky Fall, or if you want to read it in the comments (:

I want to read this book! I’m sorry you didn’t like it that much. But oh well…
I’m interested to see what I think of this!

Oof… NGL I kinda expected it to be ever so disappointing, which is why I never even bothered to give it a read.

I tried reading the Sky Fall series last year or so. I had to DNF it though. It’s probably the only book I have DNFed (yet)
I didn’t like the characters very much either. They were so bland. I’m still gonna mug through though. If I could read all 9 KOTLC books, I can read a trilogy perfectly well. 🙂
(Sorry not sorry)
