sour album book tag // a lil’ book haul

Hey people, elves, demigods, wizards, witches, and all! 👋 Hope your day was, or is going well 🌻 I’m very, very, tired and sleepy. Mostly because I slept at 2 am, and then somehow woke up at 5:30 am. 🥱🥱 I’m sorry for typos and mistakes. Hazard of writing a post when you actually just want to sleep.
Before we get onto the tag, I just want to say that I redesigned my blog! So make sure you get out of the comfy WordPress reader and get onto the actual site here to check it out and gimme feedback!
Today, I’m doing the Sour Album Book Tag! I was tagged for this by Riddhi…. only about five days ago! I’d say I’m proud of myself for completing a tag so quickly but I should be doing the older tags instead…. 😳
*cough* anyway! *cough cough* I’ve been listening to Sour on repeat recently – heck, it’s playing in the background right now. So yeah, feels right to do the tag today!
And before I go on, thank you Riddhi for tagging me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would’ve done it anyway without anyone tagging moi, but this just makes it official 👀😂

rules:

  • List the rules.
  • Show some love to the one who tagged you.
  • Mention the creator (Ashmita @the Fictional Journal) and link it back to the original post.
  • Nominate as many people you want and notify them by commenting on their posts.
  • Name a song that you have been listening to on repeat.
  • Have fun!

phew, not many rules 👏😅
A song I’ve been listening on repeat is….. Brutal. and Driver’s License. and a whole lot of others.

Now for the work part: da prompts!

1. brutal: a book with a lot of teenage angst
Hmmmmmmm. 🤔 I can tell I’m going to take a lot of trips to my bookshelf for this post……..
I hope I don’t have to do this often but.. I dunno! 🤷‍♀️

2. traitor: a book that broke your heart, but you still keep going back to
I’m only on the second question, and I already feel like scrapping this post. 😗 But I will strive on to finish this dangerously hard quest! I guess I’ll have to say an old one that doesn’t really apply now but used to: I think maybe Wave Me Goodbye? I don’t even remember it so well, but I used to reread it a ton some years ago, and I think there was a sort of sad ending? Why can’t I remember the damn book. 🙂

3. drivers license: a book that helped you grow/ become who you are today
I think every book has helped me in some way, whether it was heartfelt and deep….. or whether it helped me in learning what a bad book really is like. 😶 Anyway, I think you guys will be very frustrated with me for not doing this tag thing properly so I’m not going to go with ‘all the books I’ve read.’
Instead, I’ll go with The Magic Faraway Tree, because it was one of the very first books I ever read, and I probably wouldn’t be writing this today if I hadn’t.

4. 1 step forward, 3 steps back: a book which was slow paced, but so addictive that you just couldn’t stop reading it
hmm. I feel like most of the books I’ve read are fast paced, so this is hard. I can’t remember exactly, but maybe Bridge to Terabitha? Is that slow paced? Ugh, these prompt tags are so hard 🤧

5. deja vu: a book that makes you nostalgic
Ahhh I could go with The Magic Faraway Tree again, but I think Mallory Towers actually fits this better. I’ve reread the whole series so. many. times. And the first time was when I was around five.

6. good 4 u: a book you almost dnf-ed but it became your favourite
*in a sing-song voice* Trials of Apolloooooo!
I dunno, does a series count? Ima just assume it does. So yeah, ToA isn’t exactly my FAVOURITE, but it’s definitely one I love.

7. enough for you: a book that lived up to your incredibly high expectations.
A lot of books do, but a recent one is A Good Kind of Trouble. I think I may be doing a review soon, so I won’t say more.

8. happier: a book/series which cause a book hangover
Percy Jackson (which of course means PJO, HoO, and ToA).

9. jealousy, jealousy: a world you would sell your books to be a part of
ANY WORLDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD FROM A BOOK I LOOOOOOOOOVE. BUT BEST OF ALL: THE LOST CITIES!!!!!! 🤩🤩🤩

10. favourite crime: a favorite series, but a really disappointing last book
Maybe Heroes of Olympus, because the battle against Gaia was kind of underwhelming, but I did like many parts of The Blood of Olympus.

11. hope ur ok: a book that healed you/ your comfort book
Book hangover? No problem. I’ll just reread a KOTLC book.
..of course I always end up sad that my reread session has finished. 🤦‍♀️

tageessssss

(okay fine- credit to Pannaga for inventing the term ‘tagees’ 🙄)

Evin (isn’t it funny how I’m linking to her tag post-)
Diamond
..and since I’m not sure about any other Sour/Olivia Rodrigo fans, I’m going to leave this open! You’re welcome 😌

annnnd that’s the tag!! I’d usually just do one of those awkward outros of mine, but this time I have a lil something first: a small book haul!!!!!!! I rhymed again-
So I finally got to go to the bookshop yesterday, and while five books isn’t a lot, it’s definitely better than the three books I was promised 😅 Although two of them are graphic novels, which means I’ll finish them in no time.
Actually….. I already finished one 😳 Those books I ordered better come soon 😤😤
Anyway, I talk way too much. Here are the books I got 🤦‍♀️😂

I wanted an aesthetic picture. This is…….. okay

Going left to right, we first have book eight of The Baby-sitters Club graphic novels. I’ve actually already read book nine, but book seven and eight are missing from moi collection. 🤧🤧 *sad violin music plays as I sob due to the gravity of this situation*
I *cough* have actually already finished this first one. 😬
Sooo then we have Me, My Dad, and the End of the Rainbow. I’ve started this, and I’m like one-third through with it, and so far it’s alright. Nothing overly special, but not exactly bad.
Then, When We Got Lost in Dreamland. It’s another Ross Welford book, and I’m glad I found it at the bookstore because I would’ve ordered it otherwise.
second to last, there’s When Stars Are Scattered, which is another graphic novel. I think I may be starting this one next!
And last, but obviously not least: The Illustrated child. moi dad picked this up, and I’ve already forgotten what it’s about. 🤦‍♀️

Annnnnnnd that’s all! I meant to post this yesterday I think, but I couldn’t finish it, so I just, well, didn’t. Obviously. All hail rayna, queen of sass, awkwardness, annnnnnnnd obviousness 👑
*cough*
Boi.

rayna how many times must we go over the proper ways you can end a post?!

Of course!! As hard as the prompts were (*cough cough*), it was fun 😄

  2. Oooh Rayna, I LOVE your new blog design. 😍😍😍 Annnddd fun post!!!!! I honestly realized, tho, how behind I am on books. Out of all the ones you’ve mentioned, the only one I recognized was the Babysitter’s Club. Wellll I knew about the graphic novels, but when I read them, it was the original books. (I’m kinda slightly upset they turned them into graphic novels, but that’s probably ’cause I’m a pretty sentimental person.)

    1. Yessss THANK YOU!! 💙
Hehe, that’s alright! I barely recognise books when people do tags 😅 Yeaah I would be reading the originals, but I started with the graphic novels before I knew hey existed 🤦‍♀️
